How To Have a Relaxing Spa Day at Home

Whether you are a lover of natural beauty or are simply looking for a way to relax and unwind at home, there are very few things more calming (or indulgent!) than an at home spa day.

A day of pampering at home doesn’t take anywhere near as much effort, or even preparation, as you might think- all you need is a great selection of natural beauty products on hand and you’ll be able to recreate a spa experience from the comfort of your own home.

Read on for our tips on how to relax, unwind, and make your own spa at home.

1. Cleanse

All spa treatments begin with a deep, yet gentle, cleanse, and your DIY spa treatment at home should be no different. The facial massage portion of the cleanse will ease your mind and set you up for the duration of your home spa treatment, while the cleanser itself will clear both the pores and the surface of the skin to ensure the skincare steps that follow can effectively penetrate the skin.

For a true luxury home spa experience, take your favourite balm cleanser and muslin facial cloth and remove all traces of makeup, sweat, and other surface debris from your skin.

This is also a great way to practice mindfulness by paying attention to, and enjoying, the sensation of massaging and cleansing your face. We recommend visiting YouTube and choosing a facial massage tutorial to really recreate a traditional spa facial.

2. Exfoliate

Once you’ve deeply cleansed and massaged the skin, exfoliate using a natural facial scrub. The exfoliation step in your at home spa day checklist is essential, as it will leave the skin with that post-facial glow.

We love the Andalou Naturals Lemon Sugar Facial Scrub, which uses natural ingredients to whisk away dead skin cells and other debris and leave you with glowing, healthy skin. If you have sensitive skin, try the Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses® Pearl Exfoliator for a slightly gentler exfoliation.

3. Apply a face mask

To purify your pores and to truly treat the skin, apply your favourite clay mask after rinsing off your exfoliant of choice.

This is the perfect step to truly tailor your at home spa treatment to your skin. In the same way that you would visit a salon for a treatment specific to your needs, choose a facial mask that suits your particular skin type and concerns. For a truly custom facial, try multi-masking to treat different areas of your face simultaneously.

4. Soak in the tub

While your face mask is working its magic, run yourself a warm bath and add your favourite bath salt or bath tea. One of ours favourite is the Salt + Glow Bath Tea - Be Still, which has an incredible aroma that will have you relaxed in no time.

For an even more luxurious experience, try diffusing your favourite essential oil or essential oil blend while you soak.

5. Moisturise

Once your skin is feeling adequately supple and your mind truly eased, rinse off your face mask and restore hydration to your face and body with a moisturising serum like the Biologi Bf Hydration Face & Body Serum.

Follow this up with a rich moisturising cream to lock in that hydration, such as Nourished Life favourite Weleda Skin Food, and enjoy that post-spa day feeling- without having to snap out of that blissful state and drive yourself home!
