Restore Grey Hair Naturally

In this blog I am talking to you not really about a hair dye, but a restorative treatment. It's complicated so I am explaining here what it is and how it works.

Typically, mainstream hair dyes can contain a whole range of potential toxins. That’s why I was so happy to discover Hairprint, which is a 100% natural alternative that’s completely safe to use! This is actually not a hair dye, but a restorative treatment. It's complicated so I have explained what it is and how it works below.

Why does our hair start to go grey?

The pigment found in our hair is called melanin. This pigment is produced through the production of melanocyte cells during a process called melanogenesis. This melanin determines how the sun colours your skin and what colour your hair and eyes are. When this melanin pigment begins to decrease in production, our hair will start to go grey. This can be caused by not only age but also genetics, hair dyes, stress and diet!

What is Hairprint?

Hairprint is a new, innovative and patented treatment kit that promotes healthy hair and works to restore grey. The technology currently only works on brown or black hair, as blonde and red hair contain an additional pigment not yet developed by Hairprint. The treatment kit can be applied in the comfort of your own home. Invented by Dr. John Warner from the Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry in Massachusetts, it works by mimicking the natural hair follicles to infuse hair with natural pigmentation. This process is designed to reverse the grey hair back to the original colour.

How does Hairprint differ to hair dye?

Hairprint is designed to recreate the natural pigment (eumelanin) found in our hair shaft. This pigment attaches itself to your hair in a unique pattern. Typically chemical hair dyes remove this pattern by coating the hair in coal tar of aniline dyes. Hairprint however, restores eumelanin to the hair shaft, helping to restore the natural colour of your hair.

What ingredients does Hairprint contain?

This natural product contains many ingredients that are both safe and effective to use on the scalp. These include Baking Soda, Mucuna Pruriens (extracted from velvet beans), Sodium Carbonate as well as vitamin supplements Ferrous and Manganese Gluconate. Hydrogen Peroxide is also included which naturally occurs in the hair follicle as well as Carbomer and Diatomaceous Earth.

How do you use hairprint?

The Hairprint process takes around 75-90 minutes, and the kit comes with easy to follow steps. While 90 minutes does seem like a long time, it is still faster than most hair appointments! If you have previously coloured, bleached or highlighted your hair you will need to follow a transition plan first, this plan plus detailed FAQ's can be found here. Please have a read before considering!
