My Top 10 Natural Alternatives to 'Those' Mainstream Products

Before I became aware of the potential side effects of mainstream products, my bathroom was filled with all of those cult products that magazine editors told us we couldn't live without.

When making the switch to natural, it can be really hard to let go of those cult products that work so well. Typically I was re-purchasing products out of habit (and trust, knowing that they worked!). But, that is why we do what we do, and what has made us obsessed about finding the best organic versions on the market to replace them with.

Here is my personal ditch and switch list.

Facial Care

1. Cetaphil & QV cleanser
If you have sensitive, eczema or dermatitis prone skin, the Lavera Basis Sensitive Cleansing Gel may be the perfect natural alternative. It is made for sensitive skin, it is affordably priced and it's great for the entire family. Instead of petrochemicals, it uses vegetable glycerin and mallow extract to gently cleanse the skin.

2. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream
Get the same jobs fixed without parabens or petrolatum with the equally famous, but Certified Natural Weleda Skin Food - our best-selling multi purpose, fix everything balm.

3. Clearasil
I swapped this with the Kora Blemish Gel which is amazing on hormonal break outs, treating them with ingredients like lavender, tea tree oil and witch hazel instead of harsh chemicals like Triclosan and Resorcinol.

Body Products

4. Lucas Paw Paw Ointment
Have you ever thought your Paw Paw ointment tastes like Petroleum Jelly? That's because it's the main ingredient in the red tube. Today there are many great certified organic alternatives available, my favourites are the Suvana Paw Paw Ointment or their vegan version is Suvana Coconut Paw Paw Balm which also contains nourishing coconut oil for extra hydration! And the PURE Papaya Skin Food. Both are great Aussie brands!

5. Every clinical protection deodorant
One of our bestsellers is the Black Chicken Remedies Axilla Deodorant, I use this one personally because for me it works the best. Most of our customers say it works better than every supermarket deodorant they have ever used!

Hair Care

6. L’Oreal Elnett Haispray
Yes you can ditch this hairspray, now we have the natural, non-aerosol alternative from Andalou Naturals or Josh Rosebrook! Totally free from toxic propellants and binders like propylene glycol, and full of shine enhancing vitamins A, C and E for a non-sticky, non-toxic hold.

7. Batiste Dry Shampoo
It took a while to find a good alternative for dry shampoo, but here it is! The Acure Dry Shampoo powder uses organic corn starch and French white clay absorb dirt and oil from your hair without using water. Just dust on and brush out knowing you haven't sprayed any nasty chemicals into your scalp!

8. Bio Oil
This is one of the easiest products to move on from! There are so many amazing alternatives like the Pai Rosehip Oil or the Weleda Birch Oil, they all help treat scars and cellulite naturally, there is just zero need for petrochemicals and synthetic colours and fragrances!

Mineral Makeup & Colour Cosmetics

9. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
This one is so easy, get the same look, with more length and a touch more volume with the 100% Pure Black Tea Mascara, which uses black tea leaves and blackberries instead of nasty chemicals. This really is the perfect, every day go to mascara! I also love Inika's Bold Lash Mascara.

10. NARS Blush in Orgasm
Your can replace your NARS blush in Orgasm with the Lily Lolo Mineral Blush in Clementine. This shade is virtually identical and you get the same gorgeous peachy glow without any talc or parabens.

We really have found a healthier, natural alternative to every product you can think of so if you have anything you want to replace but not sure where to start, just send us an email and we will recommend the best natural alternatives for you.
