Melissa Ambrosini Helps Us Get Our Glow On!

She is an author and self-love teacher, helping us women to kick our inner mean girl's butt and ditch our self-doubt so we can start truly living the life of our dreams. I love everything Melissa teaches and I cant wait for her book Mastering Your Mean Girl which is out December 14.

I recently brought the entire Nourished Life team to one of Melissa's Goddess Groups, it left us feeling uplifted, inspired and wanting more, so I have follow up with Melissa on these 5 burning questions...

1. What are the top 3 self love rituals you practice to keep your mind+body nourished+energised?


My top 3 daily self love rituals are ...
● Yoga or barre. Every morning I start my day with either some yoga in my lounge room or a barre class. I love it! It opens my body up, and for me is one of the most loving thing I can do for my temple.
● Meditation. I meditate twice a day, every day ’ it’s one of my sacred non-negotiables. Again, this is one of the most loving things I do for myself.
● Nature time. Mother Nature is such a powerful healer and spending time with her is a great way to connect with myself.

2. What key piece of advice would you give to your younger self?


Beauty comes from within. There’s nothing sexier and more beautiful than someone who glows from their core and is truly confident in their own skin. These are the messages I teach in Get Your Glow On and I seriously wish it was taught at school.

3. Walk us through your everyday can't-be-bothered beauty routine?


I am very basic when it comes to beauty. I believe less is more and that your real glow comes from within. I haven't always had this perspective though ’ for many, many years I tried to fix myself from the outside in. I flogged my body at the gym, deprived myself nutritionally, and lathered my skin in toxic crap that promised to reduce my cellulite and wrinkles. But of course, none of it ever worked. The truth is, to create gorgeous health and glowing happiness, you have to work from the inside out ’ which is actually where the entire idea of Get Your Glow On came from.

I see so many women busting their guts trying to whip themselves into shape and force themselves to change, but getting absolutely nowhere. What they don’t realise is that when you work with yourself instead of against yourself ’ and make shifts from the inside out ’ your results are so much more epic and exponential. In saying that, there are a few things I do on the outside to honour my temple, such as tongue scraping for detoxification, dry body brushing for exfoliation and circulation, and coconut oil and epsom salt baths to nourish my skin... that’s about it.

4. Favourite guilty indulgence?


Every time something enters my mouth my intention is to eat with love and not guilt. If I am going to eat the raw chocolate brownie, then I’m going to eat it and enjoy every single mouthful, not let my Mean Girl beat me up with guilt for the rest of the day. It’s been a challenge to adopt this approach, and something I’ve had to consciously work on over the years and still do, but it’s been so worth it. For me, it's about loving my body and not imposing a bunch of harsh rules and restrictions on myself, because I know that as soon as I say I am not ’allowed’ something it makes me want it even more! So my philosophy is that if you're going to eat it, eat it with a huge amount of love and joy in your heart ’ it’s the best way to nourish and nurture yourself. To get specific about some of my favourite foods to indulge in and enjoy, I can’t go past my Chocolate and Orange Tart or my Lemon Curd Pie (both of which I share in my book The Glow Kitchen). They are seriously delish, and filled with nutrients to boot!
