Still, finding the time to practice self care everyday can be easier said than done. Between work commitments, family life, and a busy social calendar, making time to look after yourself every day can be a challenge.

Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be this way. There are plenty of small ways to practice self care everyday, starting with your daily skin care routine. To explain why face masks are a great way to do this, we’ve teamed up with the skin care experts at KORA Organics. From face mask basics to how to multimask, learn everything you need to know about face masks now.

What is a face mask?

First thing’s first: A face mask is a skin care product that’s specially formulated to target specific skin care concerns such as dryness, dehydration, excess oil production, or irritation.

They typically have a thick, rich consistency that cleanses your pores deeply and draws out impurities, leaving you with healthy, glowing, perfectly clean skin.

Get better results by multimasking

Face masks make a great all-over face treatment, and the best face mask for you will depend on your particular skin type and concerns. But don’t feel limited to using just one mask: Depending on the needs of your skin, you may want to alternate between different products from week to week.

Alternatively, you can multimask, or apply different masks that target specific concerns on different parts of your face. This is a great idea if, for example, your skin is dry in parts but congested or oily in other areas such as your forehead, nose and chin.

If this sounds like you, we recommend applying the detoxifying Turmeric Brightening and Exfoliating Mask to your T-zone and other areas that are prone to oiliness. At the same time, apply a hydrating face mask such as the KORA Noni Glow Sleeping Mask to the dry areas that need a hydration hit. This way, you’ll be able to give your skin exactly what it needs, where it needs it.

Top Tip: When multimasking, always apply the mask that needs to be on your face for the longest period first.

How to apply face masks

For optimum results, KORA Organics face masks and other products should always be applied to clean skin. It’s generally a good idea to double cleanse first, particularly if you’re wearing eye makeup. Once you’ve cleansed your skin, follow the steps below:

Using clean fingertips or a brush and avoiding the delicate eye area, apply your chosen mask to your face.
Leave the mask on for 5-15 minutes (depending on the packaging instructions) and relax.
Remove the mask using a damp cloth and gentle, circular motions.
Follow with a spritz of your favourite facial mist.
Apply your normal facial oil, serum, and moisturiser.

Top Tip: It’s normal to experience slight redness after a face mask due to the increased circulation to your face. Don’t stress - this will subside in 15-20 minutes.

Add face masks to your self care routine

While your mask works its magic, take the opportunity to practice mindfulness and self care by meditating. KORA face masks are the perfect pairing for soothing meditation sessions that calm your mind and body and encourage focus and direction.

If meditation isn’t your thing, slip into a warm bath, light a scented candle or diffuse your favourite calming essential oil blend, and lay back and enjoy your much-deserved me-time.

Treat yourself to a nourishing face mask

Adding a natural face mask to your self care skin care routine is a fantastic way to nurture your body inside and out. The ritual of applying and removing a face mask can have a soothing effect, and provides an opportunity to take time for yourself and unwind after a busy day.
