How to Clean Your Bathroom Without Toxins
When we use cleaning products, we’re not just spraying them on our tile or freshening the air - we’re inhaling them and absorbing these chemicals through our skin. Instead of using products that contain nasties that are harmful for our bodies inside and out, look for all-natural cleaning products and get the same results!

The next time you find yourself in front of your bathroom sink, brushing your teeth, pondering the day ahead, pick up a cleaning product and look at the ingredients. Scan for these words:
- Butyl Solvents
If you see any of these items on this list, toss it in the trash and consider an all natural, non-toxic alternative instead.
The Other Side of Toxic Cleaning
The best way to detoxify your bathroom is to make the switch to all-natural cleaning products. So many mainstream cleaning products tout their superior cleaning action, however, you’ll never hear big brands talk about the effects those mould and mildew-eliminating, virus-destroying, whitest-of-the-white-producing products have on our health.
Clean for the Body and Home
There are a couple of items you can use in the bathroom that are safe enough to pull double duty and serve as personal care products as well as amazing cleaners.
The myriad of health and beauty uses for Coconut Oil oil is limitless! A superb moisturiser for face, hair and body, coconut oil is perfectly balanced medium chain fatty acid (one of the good fats!) that, when ingested, contributes to a healthy metabolism and increased digestive function. In addition to all these health benefits, coconut oil also has germ-zapping antibacterial properties and is an extremely effective deodoriser. A small amount applied to a damp rag easily banishes soap scum!
Pure Castile Soap can be used for everything, from body wash to toothpaste, dishwashing liquid or laundry detergent! Castile soap removes grease and grime all on its own, but when combined with either baking soda or vinegar it can be used around the home as an all-natural surface cleaner.
Do it Yourself
One of the best ways to guarantee your cleaning supplies are non-toxic is to make them yourself! DIY cleaning products are easy to make, very effective and you probably have half of the ingredients already in your cupboard. Here are a couple of amazing ingredients that are always helpful to have on hand.
Baking soda is an active stain lifting, brightening and deodorising agent that when combined with Castile Soap or essential oils can be used to scrub toilets and eliminate soap scum naturally.
Vinegar harnesses the power of its natural acidity to disinfect and eliminate grease and limescale.
Lemon Juice can be used on its own to kill mould, mildew, and odour or be combined with Castile liquid soap or baking soda for extra scrubbing power.
Essential oils can be used for a natural, fresh, and clean scent. Combine a few drops of your favourite essential oil with baking soda in a canning jar for an all-natural, long-lasting air freshener. Some essential oils like tea tree, lavender, or grapefruit also possess powerful antibacterial qualities that disinfect while smelling great.
You don’t have to use harsh chemicals to have a sparkling clean home. We have a huge range of toxin-free natural cleaning products to choose from and they all clean just as well without the health-hazardous side effects.
