It's no secret that caffeine is seriously addictive! Although there are some health benefits to drinking coffee (improved memory function and alertness!), the cons often outweigh the pros. I'm always trying to reduce my daily coffee intake and cut this caffeine addiction! At the moment I'm down to only one coffee a day, usually made from the Ethical Coffee Company pods. They're just so easy to use and completely biodegradable! They also do a decaf! To mix up my daily caffeine intake however, I've been reaching for matcha green teas and herbal alternatives. I've even been making matcha based smoothie bowls!
Benefits of quitting caffeine!
It may seem like an impossible feat, but giving up caffeine has amazing health benefits! Quitting coffee will actually balance your energy levels and improve your sleeping habits. You won't be feeling so sluggish in the afternoons! Reducing your caffeine intake can also work to reduce your levels of stress and anxiety. As caffeine release adrenaline into the body, it triggers a fight or flight response that worsens these feelings of anxiety. According to Innocent Beans, giving up coffee can also lower your blood pressure levels, elevate your mood and reduce the feeling of headaches and jitters throughout the day!
Made using herbal ingredients, Innocent Beans $15 creates a coffee like drink without the caffeine! Free from any added sugars, flavours, colours or preservatives, these beans actually work to detoxify the body and improve your digestion! Two of my favourites include The Original Innocent, which tastes very similar to coffee and the Innocent Cocoa, which has a delicious chocolate blend. But there is also an Innocent Chai and even an Innocent Spiced Turmeric and gluten free blend!
Kintra Foods Roasted Dandelion Tea

This tea is great for sipping before bed, without the hit of energy! Dandelion Tea is also a wonderful natural remedy for bloating. The Kintra tea comes in a handy tea bags as well as coffee look-a-like granules. For more on the benefits of herbal teas, you can read this Guide To Herbal Tea.

Lately I've been loving to play around with all the ways you can use Zen Green Tea Matcha Powder $29.95! Full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, this matcha blend helps to aid concentration, weight loss, energy levels and the immune system. Perfect as a hot tea, you can also use this powder in smoothie bowls!
