Natural Treatments for Aches and Pains
Aches and pains can be incredibly troublesome, affecting your daily life and even disrupting your sleep. Whether you're suffering from sports injuries, post-workout pain or just a stiff neck, natural treatments can help to soothe and calm soreness, so I've put together this guide to treating muscle and joint stiffness naturally.
When you're suffering from muscle soreness, joint stiffness or aches and pains, sometimes you just need a fast and effective form of natural pain relief. From natural body oils to Magnesium moisturisers, I have found some amazing alternatives to mainstream topical pain relief treatments which deliver effective relief from soreness by utilising potent natural active ingredients such as botanical extracts and essential oils.
How to soothe sore muscles naturally
When it comes to soothing aches and pains the natural way, there are several different ways to help get that effective relief from soreness. For fairly fast relief, Magnesium oils and thermal treatments can be massaged into the skin to help boost circulation and calm inflammation. This is also a great option when you're on the move and need a helping hand to keep you going. At the end of the day, I recommend a soothing bath soak before bedtime as they are not only calming and de-stressing but can also help to really relax your muscles and get some of that stiffness out. Magnesium is one of my favourite ingredients for treating sore muscles as you can use it as a bath soak, in spray form and even as a cream or oil.
Natural thermal treatments
Uspa Thermal Treatment Oil - Red Pepper
One of the most effective natural pain remedies I've found is the Uspa Thermal Treatment Oil - Red Pepper. It has the most incredible effect on muscle soreness and joint stiffness because Capsicum Extract has a warming effect on the skin to alleviate discomfort, while Wintergreen and Menthol actually cool the skin and work to stimulate the nerves that perceive cold, while depressing those that perceive pain. The hot-cold effect makes this dry oil a winner for relieving arthritis, muscle soreness and minor injuries.

For headaches and migraines, I love the soothing relief of the Amazing Oils Organic Magnesium Moisturiser. With 22% Magnesium Chloride, it can actually deliver a boost of Magnesium into the system topically, while nourishing skin with hydrating Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Vitamin E. I suggest massaging a small amount into the temples and forehead to help take some of the bite out of nasty headaches.

Life Basics Magnesium
I love a good Magnesium soak to help with cramps, headaches and pains as well as help with getting a good night's sleep, and the Life Basics Magnesium is a personal favourite. I just add a cup of these pure, sustainably sourced Magnesium Chloride flakes to my bath and soak in the energising goodness for as long as I need, but they can also be added to a smaller tub for a targeted foot soak to help revive swollen or aching feet.
